New Corruption Complaint Filed Against Metro Union Leader and Officials
Julio Solís Arias formally filed a Denuncia de Hechos (criminal complaint) with the Órgano Interno de Control (OIC) against multiple high-ranking members of the Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (STC), Mexico City’s Metro system. The complaint accuses Joaquín Ibarra Bermejo, Secretary of Section V of the national Metro workers’ union, of illicit enrichment, misappropriation of public resources, and stealing workers’ wages during the Line 1 renovation project.
The formal accusation claims Bermejo enriched himself illegitimately, using the project as an opportunity for personal gain, while laborers were allegedly defrauded and underpaid.
The report also implicates:
- Fernando García Ostria – Coordinator of High Tension
- Clemente García – Sub-head of the Pilotage Department
- Hugo Rosas – Sub-head of the Telecom Department
- Octavio Huesca – Head of Automatic Pilot in Tacubaya
These individuals are accused of workplace harassment, intimidation, and theft of Metro system parts, severely compromising safety and ethics within the STC.
🚇 Meanwhile: Chaos for Commuters
As allegations of corruption swirl inside Metro offices, chaos reigns outside. A recent image taken during peak hours shows an overwhelming crowd of commuters stuck in a narrow corridor, reflecting the daily congestion crisis in the system.
The photo reveals a dense bottleneck of passengers, highlighting:
- Poor crowd management
- Lack of infrastructure planning
- Growing public frustration
These conditions raise concerns about passenger safety, emergency preparedness, and whether mismanagement is linked to the alleged corruption at the administrative level.
